Yachts: top sunrise industry

The yachting industry has gradually entered the life of the new noble class. According to the official data released, there are currently more than 24 cities in China holding yacht shows, more than 80 yacht clubs, more than 6,000 berths, and about 1,000 private yachts. Nevertheless, the development of China's yacht industry is still very backward, and there is a huge gap in the market space. Data show that in 2011, the global yacht sales totaled 54 billion U.S. dollars, while the sales of China's yacht market was only 3.6 billion U.S. dollars.

It is understood that the current market of China's yachting industry is only concentrated in the southern part of China. This has a lot to do with the southern climate suitable for yachts often go to sea, for example, Hainan, Xiamen and other places are developing rapidly, but like the potential consumers in Beijing, if only a few months a year to go to sea, the lure of the yacht for them will be significantly reduced.

Some industry insiders believe that the factors that restrict the development of the yacht industry are mainly the openness of the waters, the construction of marinas and other supporting facilities, and the development of yacht driving training. But since 2010, these problems are gradually being solved.

First of all, China has formed a system in developing yachting standards. On July 23, 2010, the State Council [2010] No. 121 document "Implementing the State Council's Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Tourism Key Work Division Program After the release of the State Council [2010] No. 121, the yacht industry has also ushered in its own spring.

In fact, it is not simple to own a private yacht, which has become another barrier to the development of the yachting industry. It is understood that, like cars, yachts at sea also need to be licensed, certified, and comply with traffic regulations. The reporter learned that after the purchase of the yacht needs to apply for registration to the Maritime Bureau "ship ownership certificate", and then should be to the ship inspection department to obtain a ship inspection certificate, and then to the Maritime Bureau to obtain a "ship nationality certificate", and then to obtain a yacht license. Finally, there is the issue of mooring to consider.

Depending on the size of the boat, the cost of berthing is also rising, to the minimum 6 meters berth (19.7 feet), for example, the daily rent of the rental berth is about 300 yuan, the monthly rent to seven or eight thousand dollars, the annual rent of nearly 80,000 yuan, 20 years of long-term berth sales price is to reach nearly a million dollars.

The high price of yachts determines that their maintenance needs to be operated by professionally trained and experienced engineers. In response to the momentum of China's yachting industry, yacht clubs have sprung up, and most of them can also provide yacht management services.

Yacht clubs are expensive, in addition to the dock for berthing yachts, but also need to support the construction of maintenance services, recreation and other facilities, investment is often hundreds of millions of dollars. It is understood that the largest yacht club project in China "Nine Dragons Villa" only supporting the hotel, yacht villas, marina construction costs up to 2 billion yuan. Once the yacht is moored in the club-owned marina, the huge economic benefits will not be ignored.

The 2010 Hurun Rich List survey found that there are 875,000 rich people in China, and nearly half of them plan to buy private yachts. Although Ron Stone, chairman of the International Commission on Yachting Facilities, said that yachting is not just a luxury consumer product and not just for the super-rich, it represents a lifestyle that meets the needs of individuals and families to enjoy life. However, for China, the code word circulating among China's nouveau riche is that only private yachts can show the gap between those with $10 million and those with $100 million in assets.

Along with the increase of domestic yacht production enterprises, cost control and price decreasing day by day, the expansion of the domestic affluent class and the rapid development of the tourism economy, China's yacht industry has ushered in a full range of development opportunities.

According to the 2012 China Yacht Development Prospects and Investment Strategic Planning Analysis Report, there are already 200 yacht manufacturing enterprises in China, with 30 enterprises whose output value exceeds 10 million, and these enterprises are mainly concentrated in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin, Xiamen, Zhuhai and other cities. The production of yachts will drive the development of new materials, coatings, electronic instruments, instruments, power, propulsion systems and dozens of other supporting industries. Its consumption will also drive the rapid development of a large number of related industries such as marinas, yacht transportation, yacht maintenance, fuel refueling, water entertainment and catering services.

According to the data, the type of yachts sold in the Chinese yacht market is mainly concentrated in small and medium-sized yachts, with specifications mainly between 24-48 feet (7.3-14.6 meters) and prices between 150,000 USD. Sales of yachts over 50 feet (15 meters) are also gradually increasing. And due to the low labor cost, the price of small and medium-sized yachts made in China is 20%-30% cheaper compared with European and American countries, which makes small and medium-sized yachts made in China very competitive in the international arena.

According to the forecast of China Shipbuilding Industry Association, by 2020, the market size of Chinese yachts will reach 50 billion RMB.

At the 2011 Dalian Boat Show, Zheng Weihang, vice president of the Cruise Yacht Branch of the China Communications Association, predicted that in the next five to 10 years, there will be 50,000 yachts in demand by Chinese enterprises, and roughly 50,000 yachts will be purchased by individuals from the middle class and above. According to the average price of 500,000 to 1 million yuan per vessel, the national yacht industry will be able to create a huge market of up to 100 billion yuan. The yachting industry, which is still in the market ignorance, has a bright future.

Industry insiders agree that Chinese and foreign exhibitors are generally optimistic about the development of China's yacht economy and water leisure and entertainment industry, which is surging and starting to rise, especially as more national governments and industry associations will focus on China, which is undoubtedly a major good news to promote the development of China's water leisure industry, and will bring more yachts and supporting equipment, richer leisure life content and fun in the world.
